Good Neighbor Pilot Program

The Good Neighbor Pilot (GNP) was developed to transform our relationship with “waste” and evolve our mindset so we can transform resources into useful, sustainable, safe solutions.

As populations in St. Johns County and around the globe continue to grow, the need to address waste and what to do with it, weighs heavily on society to remedy. Human innovations such as fertilizer, flushing toilets, and door to door garbage collection have provided convenient methods to feed the masses and take the pesky “waste” away. This also has left our awareness of where food comes from and where waste goes to, largely misunderstood and worse, forgotten altogether.

As rural lands become suburban and urban, the “where” has become in some cases next door. This presents a unique opportunity to bring everyone along to understand how our daily lives and conveniences came to be and, “where” they go. The GNP will shed light for all citizens, leaders, and neighbors in a proactive education forward manner.
